AI usage policy
We use artificial intelligence tools when preparing some of the content on this site. They never replace professional judgement: everything we publish is reviewed by a named person, who holds editorial responsibility for the result.
Where we use AI
- Preparing drafts and structuring blog articles.
- Research and cross-checking of public sources — legislation, case law and official documentation.
- Translating content between European Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese and English.
- Editing for style, clarity and readability.
- Internal development and maintenance work on this website.
Where we do not use AI
- No opinion, pleading or contract reaches a client without full review by a lawyer registered with the Portuguese Bar Association.
- We do not enter clients’ personal or confidential data into third-party AI tools without a legal basis and adequate contractual safeguards.
- No content is published on this site without prior human review.
- AI does not decide, does not advise and does not represent anyone. A person always decides.
Editorial responsibility
Every article on this site is attributed to a named author. That person reads the text in full before publication, verifies the legal references cited and answers for the published content.
Using AI transfers no responsibility: what is written is the responsibility of the person who signs it.
How we flag it
Articles prepared with the assistance of AI tools carry a note at the end of the text, naming who reviewed it and who holds editorial responsibility.
The absence of that note means the article was written entirely without the assistance of these tools.
Legal framework
Article 50(4) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the AI Act) imposes transparency duties on those who publish AI-generated text on matters of public interest. That same provision waives disclosure where the content has undergone human review and a natural or legal person holds editorial responsibility for the publication — which is our case.
We disclose anyway. We write about rights that turn on deadlines and details; readers are entitled to know how the text was produced before deciding what to do with it.
Any processing of personal data associated with these tools follows Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and is described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
This policy tracks the tools we use and the application timetable of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. Whenever we update it, the date at the top of this page changes.
